The University of Otago, founded in 1869 by an ordinance of the Otago
Provincial Council, is New Zealand's oldest university. The new University
was given 100,000 acres of pastoral land as an endowment and authorised to
grant degrees in Arts, Medicine, Law and Music.

The University of Otago Doctoral Scholarship

funding to support doctoral students studying at the University of Otago.

Applications may be received at any time.
*Elegibilidade*

The Scholarship is available to both domestic and international students
seeking to obtain their first doctoral qualification. Candidates for
professional doctorates, as well as the PhD, are welcome to apply.
*Benefícios*

NZ$25,000.00 stipend per annum plus domestic tuition fees waiver (excludes
student services fee and insurance).
*Prazo de Execução*

Tenure of a doctoral scholarship is for three years, or until the thesis is
submitted (whichever period is the shorter).
*Requisitos*

Applicants must usually be seeking to obtain their first doctoral
qualification.
*Critérios de Seleção*

Selection is based predominantly on academic merit and the applicant’s
potential for research.

Students whose degree has been conferred at any university other than a New
Zealand or Australian University, will be considered in two separate
categories:

*Category 1*: applicants whose qualifications are from countries in the
lista available on the website (as reviewed by International Admissions and
the Internationalisation Committee) must provide an original or certified
copy of the transcript from their university.

*Category 2*: qualifications from all other countries must be referred to:
Education Credential Evaluators, Inc.

The applicant is required to pay for the evaluation, with the applicant and
the University of Otago each receiving a copy of the resulting evaluation
report.
