Co-organized by Roe-Min Kok (McGill) and Laura Tunbridge (University of Manchester, UK), the conference is generously sponsored by the Schulich School of Music, University of Manchester, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Andre Turp Musical Society, British Council Montreal, and the German Consulate General of Canada.<BR><BR>The conference, held over <B>September 22-24</B>, includes talks by experts from Canada, U.S.A., United Kingdom, France and Germany. Prof. Scott Burnham of
Princeton University will deliver the keynote lecture. Two concerts round off our Schumann celebration: <BR><BR>1) Friday, September 22--Kyoko Hashimoto, Richard Roberts, and students from the Schulich School perform Schumann and Kurtag. Opening Remarks by The German Consul to Montreal, Mr. Joerg Metger.<BR><BR>2) Saturday, September 23--Andre Turp Musical Society is bringing in young, up-and-coming Canadian professionals based in Munich, Germany for an evening of Schumann Lieder.<BR><BR><B>Registration is free for students</B> with a valid ID up to Sept. 12. <BR>Registrants receive a ticket to the Friday concert, conference program booklet, and a discount for the Turp Society concert.
