En réaction à l’invasion de la culture anglo-saxonne, la promotion et la déification de la variété canadienne de parler français seront valorisées en fonction
d’une épuration des abus de langage, sans grand souci d’historicité, du moins au XIXe siècle et au début du XXe siècle. Dans ce mouvement d’émergence de l’histoire culturelle canadienne-franç<WBR>aise à laquelle il participe en tant que pionnier des sciences sociales, Barbeau va procéder à la collecte et à la description générale du corpus de chansons de tradition orale. Héritier d’une tradition intellectuelle anglo-saxonne, le Beauceron est aussi le chef de file de la pratique ethnomusicologique au Canada français. Au cours de cette communication, nous brosserons un profil de cette dimension de son œuvre en la replaçant dans l’histoire intellectuelle de son temps.<BR><BR><BR></SPAN><FONT size=4><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 14px"><BR><B><U>Biographie <BR></U></B></SPAN></FONT><B><U><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12px"><BR></SPAN></U></B><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12px">Jean-Nicolas De Surmont
s’intéresse à la chanson québécoise et française depuis plusieurs années. Mais sa réflexion recourt à plusieurs disciplines : sociologie, histoire, littéraire, linguistique et philosophie. Ce sont les champs disciplinaires qu’il a étudiés tout au long de sa formation universitaire. Il vient de compléter un doctorat sur l’ingénierie lexicale comme solution à l’étude des phénomènes chansonniers. Il anime aussi depuis une dizaine d’années une émission de radio multidisciplinaire en plus de collaborer à divers périodiques tant en Europe qu’au Québec.<BR><BR><BR></SPAN></FONT></P></DIV></BLOCKQUOTE></TD></TR>
