Repertoire is limited to art music of the 19th and 20th-centuries including foreign-born composers who influenced compositional practice over an extended period of time (e.g. Chopin), or composers who relocated to France for a sizeable portion of their careers (e.g. the American composer No=EBl Lee). Because of the unique location of the host institution, it al= so explores the influence of Pacific and Asian music(s) on French composers.</SPAN></FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">Ideally, the conference is targeted at musicians with an interest in French music and the possibility of analysis informing performance; likewise, to those who see the potential of performance benefiting analytical understanding.</SPAN></FONT></P>

Applicants opting for the lecture-recital format should also submit a recent, unedited recording along with the abstract. The deadline for submission is June 1st, 2007.</SPAN></FONT></P>

Roy Howat and Wendy Hiscocks will present a duo-piano recital which includes Debussy's 'En blanc et noir' and Chabrier's 'Trois valses romantiques'<WBR>. Pianist Scott McCarrey will offer a solo recital of works by Ravel and Poulenc, this performance to include the world premiere of a new piece by Wendy Hiscocks commissioned for the conference.</SPAN></FONT></P>
