THEORIZING THE SPACE BETWEEN
Interdisciplinary Graduate Conference on Music
Despite the plethora of 'interdisciplinary' workshops, conferences and
journals, there still exists a great potential for fresh music
scholarship. Exciting scholarship is taking place in new shared spaces
where once conceptual fences stood separating fields of study. As the
space between disciplines hovering just beyond the boundaries of one
approach and another becomes a viable starting point for analysis,
the complexity of musical study is compounded by social, cultural and
scientific perspectives.

As graduate students, we sometimes lack a forum for experimenting in
this new complexity, hashing out the new 'in-between' of ideas as they
branch across two, or more, fields. With this focus we invite all
graduate students from a variety of disciplines to participate in
Theorizing the Space Between in order to engage in a unique and
thought-provoking discourse on music.
