exato momento, milhares de alunos, em todo o Brasil, iniciam a preparação e
a aplicação de mais uma temporada de “trote” - submissão coletiva geralmente
acompanhada de ridicularização - aos assim chamados “bixos” ou “calouros”,
defendendo tal prática como um antigo costume brasileiro e uma oportunidade para
a diversão e o excesso. Às vezes sob a conivência das instituições nas quais
isso ocorre, apesar da existência de legislação a respeito, nesses trotes
costumam ocorrer atos de violência física e moral, de constrangimento e
submissão dos ingressantes às ordens e desejos dos alunos mais antigos e,
sobretudo, a degradação da finalidade básica das instituições de ensino:
preparar o jovem para uma vida digna em sociedade.</SPAN></DIV>

meados de março assistiremos, nos noticiários da TV, às cenas mais chocantes
desta temporada, que estarão sendo filmadas nesta e nas próximas semanas.
Dentre as cenas do ano passado, um único exemplo é suficiente para atestar a
gravidade da situação, ocorrido na Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp) em
