Delphian Singers Composition Competition 2013<br><br>We are proud to announce the inaugural Delphian Singers Composition Competition. The Delphian Singers (<a target="_blank" href="http://www.Delphiansingers.co.uk/">www.Delphiansingers.co.uk</a>) are a professional chamber choir from London, founded by Jessi Pywell. After making a big impact with a series of sell-out, critically acclaimed concerts in Cambridge and London last year, the Delphian Singers have been invited to perform upcoming concerts at St John Smith Square, St Martin-in-the Fields, and King’s College Chapel in Cambridge. Other future plans include a UK-wide tour of Rachmaninov’s All-night Vigil by candlelight in venues such St Paul’s, Gloucester, Liverpool and Leeds cathedrals (supported by the Vocal Futures trust) as well as the launch of their debut disc with the organist David Briggs, due for release next year.<br><br>We are calling for composers to submit an original composition
for voices, inspired by plainchant, and suitable for performance during Easter. The winning composition will be performed in Clare College Chapel, Cambridge during the Easter at King’s Festival, toured widely during 2014, recorded for release by a prestigious record company.<br>The deadline for submissions is Monday 4th March 2013. Pieces should be no more than 6 minutes in duration, and should be written for SATB (divisi up to SSAATTBB), with or without organ.<br><br>Entries will be judged by a distinguished panel including the conductor Stephen Cleobury and composers Judith Bingham, Richard Allain and Toby Young.
