<p>The University of Newcastle offers an extensive range of <a href="http://www.newcastle.edu.au/research-and-innovation/graduate-research/phd-and-research-degrees/scholarships" target="_blank">Postgraduate Research Scholarships</a> to support <span style="line-height:20.8px">research students</span>. International candidates have five options:</p>
<ol><li>International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS);</li><li>University of Newcastle International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (UNIPRS);</li><li>University of Newcastle Research Scholarship Central (UNRSC);</li><li>University of Newcastle Research Scholarship Central 50:50 (UNRSC50:50);</li><li>Provisional University of Newcastle Research Scholarship (PUNRS).</li></ol>

<div class=""><p>Domestic and international applicants are eligible.</p>
<p><strong>Note:</strong> Successful international scholarship
candidates usually also have a master degree with strong research
component and international peer reviewed research publication or
research experience.</p>

<div class=""><ol><li>A$26,288.00 per year;</li><li>A relocation allowance up to A$2,020.00;</li><li>A thesis allowance up to A$500.00;</li><li>A full tuition fee scholarship;</li><li>Overseas student health cover.</li></ol>

<a name="prazoexecucao" class=""><h3><b>Duração da Bolsa</b></h3></a>
<div class=""><p>PhD scholarships are for three years and Masters scholarships are for two years.</p>
</div>
<a name="requisitos" class=""><h3><b>Requisitos</b></h3></a>
<div class=""><p style="line-height:20.8px">Candidates must:</p>
<ol style="line-height:20.8px"><li>Satisfy the English proficiency requirement (IELTS of at least 6.5);</li><li>Have a current offer of admission into a research higher degree;</li><li>Have completed at least four years of undergraduate study and have
attained Honours Class 1 or equivalent and a high grade point average
(GPA);</li><li>Be no more than two full-time equivalent years into their PhD (or
one year for Masters) at the latest outcome date for the round in which
they are applying.</li></ol>

<a name="formasolicitacao" class=""><h3><b>Forma de Solicitação</b></h3></a>
<div class=""><p style="line-height:20.8px"><span style="line-height:20.8px">Before submitting the application, candidates</span> must:</p>
<ol style="line-height:20.8px"><li>Find a <a href="http://www.newcastle.edu.au/research-and-innovation/graduate-research/phd-and-research-degrees/find-a-supervisor" target="_blank">Supervisor</a>;</li><li>Submit a <a href="http://www.newcastle.edu.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0005/65606/Research-Proposal-Template.pdf" target="_blank">Research Proposal</a> which is a clear statement describing the proposed area of research;</li><li>Find the right research degree:
<ol start="1" style="list-style-type:lower-alpha"><li><a href="http://www.newcastle.edu.au/research-and-innovation/graduate-research/phd-and-research-degrees/why-uon/phd#phd" target="_blank">PhD Degrees</a>;</li><li><a href="http://www.newcastle.edu.au/research-and-innovation/graduate-research/phd-and-research-degrees/why-uon/phd#masters" target="_blank">Research Masters Degrees</a>.</li></ol>

<p>The application for admission must include:</p>
<ol><li>Copies of all academic transcripts;</li><li>A research proposal;</li><li>Evidence of extra academic attainments, for example publications;</li><li>If required, certified evidence of meeting the English proficiency requirement.</li></ol>
<p>The following documents to support the scholarship application <span style="line-height:20.8px">must be attached</span>:</p>
<ol><li>Copies of research publications, exhibitions or conference papers;</li><li><em>Curriculum vitae</em>;</li><li>Details of previous research experience;</li><li>Any additional documents, for example evidence of the award of a University Medal.</li></ol>
