********************* ATTENTION MUSICOLOGISTS:
The Mannes Institute for Advanced Studies in Music is specifically
seeking qualified musicologists as participants in its 2006 summer
Institute on Chromaticism to be held at Yale University from June 22-25,
2006. The Mannes Institute is a unique interdisciplinary think tank
designed to foster greater dialogue among music scholars in all branches
of our profession. Each year a different topic is explored in depth
through intensive participatory workshops led by a diverse faculty of
experts in their field.
Although the Institute initially originated in the theory community, it
now includes more and more historical musicologists as well. Each member
of the Institute enrolls in one morning and one afternoon workshop for
the entire program and attends all plenary sessions. Each workshop of
fifteen scholars meets for three 3-hour sessions. There is no
registration fee or tuition. Communal meals, a reception, and a banquet
are provided free of charge, and affordable housing is available.
Additional details and the online application form are located on the
Institute's website at www.mannes.edu/mi. The upcoming deadline for
applications is March 1, 2006. Interested professional musicologists
(not students) are strongly encouraged to apply. A description of the
program is provided below:
