Interface 2007: Reconciliations
Institute for Comparative Studies in Literature, Art, and Culture (ICSLAC)
Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada
May 10th, 2007

The Interface colloquium, now in its third year, is an interdisciplinary forum for current
and recent graduate researchers and scholars. Its broadest aim is to explore the
ideological, epistemological, ethical, and aesthetic implications of questioning,
dissolving, and redefining borders between disciplinary fields. This year’s theme,
Reconciliations, opens discussion on the issues and possibilities that emerge from
intercultural and interdisciplinary work.

We invite papers from Literary Studies, Cultural Studies, Visual Culture, Musicology,
Museum Studies, History, New Technologies, and related disciplines.

Topics can include but are not limited to:
• Hybridity and hyphenations, cultural contact, cultural translation, global/local
interactions
• Art and its institutions, collaborations, classifications, interventions, exhibitions
• Postcolonialism
• Gender studies, queer theory
• Performativity, representations
• Technology and the body
• Cultural and indigenous identities
• Popular culture, high/low culture, subcultures

Alternatively, twenty minute media performance pieces are also invited for submission.
