Dear Colleague,

 

Abstracts for the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual 
Archives (IASA)'s Annual Conference are due on *January 31 2008 *. 
On-line abstract submission and instructions for authors are available 
via the IASA web site:

Alternatively you can send your paper proposal by mail or post to IASA 
Vice-Chair Per Holst, by e-mail: per em dr.dk <mailto:per em dr.dk>or by post 
(Danish Broadcasting Corporation, DR Archives, DR Byen, Emil Holms Kanal 
20, Opg. 2, 0999 Copenhagen C, Denmark).

 

The IASA Conference is to be held in Sydney, Australia at the Australian 
National Maritime Museum from September 14 to 19, 2008. IASA 2008 will 
feature a variety of areas associated with Sound and Audio Visual 
Archives with the main theme:

 

*No Archive is an Island*  

Abstracts are currently sought that address the following topics:

 

·           Low resource tropical archiving

·           Grass root archiving with small institutes and small nations

·           Interconnection and cooperation

·           Resource sharing

·           Federated digital delivery systems

·           Cooperative delivery systems in an innovative environment

·           Oral histories: rising tides - cultural tides, tides of 
Native Title and Indigenous ownership

·           Isolation, Innovation and Diversity

·           Remote broadcasting and archive implications.

·           Preservation of historical memories in sound and audiovisual 
forms

·           Audiovisual records as a memory of revolutionary change

·           The role of archives retaining history

 

In addition, the organising panel might seek poster presentations.

 

The size of abstract is limited to 250 words.

Applications for travel grants will be accepted. Presenting a paper and 
being a IASA member are two criteria that enhance the chance of being 
awarded a travel grant. The announcement will be publicized later this 
spring, or check the IASA website).
