Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to work on the ‘Creative
Practice in Contemporary Concert Music’ project led by Professor Eric
Clarke, which forms part of the AHRC Research Centre for Musical Performance
as Creative Practice (CMPCP) – a partnership between the University of
Cambridge (lead institution), the University of Oxford, King’s College
London and Royal Holloway, University of London. The project will be based
at Oxford and carried out in association with composers and performers from
a number of other institutions. The successful applicant will be involved in
a study of distributed creativity in composer/performer interactions. S/he
will take primary responsibility for collecting and analyzing qualitative
and quantitative data, will contribute to publications, and will take an
active role in disseminating research findings at workshops and conferences.
The appointment is full-time and is available from 1 March 2011 for a fixed
term of three years.

Applicants should have a PhD in music or psychology, experience of the
design and execution of empirical investigations in music using a range of
qualitative and quantitative methods including interview/observational
studies, competence in a range of data analysis methods, and familiarity
with sound editing/analysis software.
