>The School of Arts at Oxford Brookes University is pleased to
announce that it is able to offer a Doctoral Bursary to a new PhD student in
Music for full time study commencing in January 2013. The successful applicant
will have course fees waived and will be awarded a bursary of £10,000 per annum
for three years (with no inflation increase).

>The PhD
student will be supervised by Dr Alexandra Wilson, Reader in Musicology.
Proposals are invited in any area of the discipline of opera studies. Dr Wilson
has particular research interests in the following areas: 
>	* 19th- and 20th-century Italian opera (especially Puccini)
>	* Opera’s social, political and aesthetic contexts (particularly in Italy and Britain)
>	* Reception studies 
>	* Contemporary operatic culture 
>	* Opera’s interaction with other art-forms, particularly film
>	* Gender 
>	* National identities
