The University of Aarhus, in Denmark, is a young, modern university
established in 1928. It has grown to become a leading public research
university with international reach covering the entire research spectrum.
With more than half of its 43,000 students enrolled at Master’s or PhD
level, Aarhus University is a graduate university. Today more than 10 per
cent of our students are international. Among the students more than 103
nationalities are represented.

Aarhus University offers to the candidate a variety of challenging and

research as their main focus. Supervised research training will enable
the student to perform high-quality research. To strengthen student´s
qualifications he/she will gain in-depth knowledge as well as key
competences through participation in the PhD courses. Furthermore, the
student have the outstanding opportunity of gaining guided experience in
teaching and other forms of knowledge dissemination.

  *Elegibilidade*

Aarhus University welcomes applicants from all over the world. However, our
PhD programmes are internationally very competitive, and only applicants
with the highest level of documented qualifications (educational
background, academic skills and grades) are admitted.

Four-year PhD scholarships:

   To be considered for a Four-year PhD scholarship, you must have passed a
   qualifying examination that corresponds to 240 ECTS credits (for example a
   Bachelor’s degree allocated 180 ECTS credits as well as Master’s degree
   examinations that correspond to 60 ECTS credits, or a Master’s degree
   allocated 240 ECTS credits).

Three-year PhD fellowships:

   To be considered for a Three-year PhD fellowship, you must have passed a
   qualifying examination that corresponds to 300 ECTS credits (e.g. a
   Bachelor’s degree allocated 180 ECTS credits and a Master’s degree
   allocated 120 ECTS credits).

  *Valor Financiado*

A Four-year PhD scholarship:

   Consists of two parts. For the first two years (part A), the recipient
   gets a monthly payment of approximately DKK 9,700. For the last two years
   (part B), the recipient is employed as a PhD research fellow and gets a
   monthly salary of approximately DKK 25,400 incl. pension and holiday pay.
   In the transition from part A to part B, a Danish Master’s degree is
   obtained. The transition from part A to part B also requires that part A
   has been satisfactorily completed.

A Three-year PhD recipient:

   Is employed as a PhD research fellow for three years and gets a monthly
   salary of approximately DKK 25,400 incl. pension and holiday pay.

PhD projects:

   1. Individual projects: applicants can apply for admission to a graduate
   school based on their academic record and a project proposal prepared by
   the applicant;
   2. Specified projects: applicants can apply for a number of specific PhD
   positions with predefined project descriptions. Predefined projects are
   announced on the individual graduate school websites.
