Robert Fink, que se tornou o primeiro professor a ministrar um curso de
electronic dance music numa grande universidade pública norte-americana
(UCLA), e foi premiado por isso (não por tê-lo feito, mas por como o fez),
divulgou no Academia.edu o syllabus do curso The Politics of Frequency:
Electronic Dance Music in the Dubstep Era. Como achei ótimo, repasso aqui.

The hardcore dance style known as “dubstep” is sweeping across the North
American musical landscape, puzzling (and angering) those who recognize it
as a popularized (vulgarized) form of a bass-heavy avant-garde dance style
pioneered in Britain over a decade ago. This seminar will consider the
entire dubstep continuum from perspectives that are historical (the
Afro-Caribbean roots of “dub”; post-millennial genres of British EDM like
garage, 2-step, bassline, wonky, and grime; the longer-range “hardcore
continuum” of EDM; the rise of “bro-step” in America); analytical (rhythm
theory; psycho-acoustics of bass; software effects and filters; technology
and production); and political (the politics of frequency; the black
Atlantic, EDM and global capital flows).
