A call for recordings for a session at the 2015 Music Library Association
meeting in Denver, Colorado

Thom Pease (Library of Congress) and Sandy Rodriguez (UMKC, Marr Sound
Archives) are chairing a session called "Audio Archaeology: Identifying
Unknown and Unidentified Sound Recordings" in which you all are encouraged
to share snippets of unidentified, under-identified, and/or misidentified
music and other audio recordings (especially where they relate to music and
musicians) from your collections. This session provides an opportunity for
attendees to bring their unique recordings and play them for an audience of
experienced, knowledgeable music librarians who may be able to answer
questions like: Who wrote that? What was that tune? Whose voice was that?
And other questions you want solved. Attendees are encouraged to submit
digital (and digitized) audio (in the form of common-format audio files)
and to come with a set of inquisitive ears. Contact Thomas Pease (
tpease em loc.gov<mailto:tpease em loc.gov>) or Sandy Rodriguez (
rodriguezsan em umkc.edu<mailto:rodriguezsan em umkc.edu>) for submission details.

Please have your materials to us by Friday, January 30 (approximately a
month prior to the MLA meeting).

Thanks,
