*Descrição*

The Leverhulme Trust was established by the Will of William Hesketh Lever,
the founder of Lever Brothers. Since 1925 it have provided grants and
scholarships for research and education; today, it is one of the largest
all-subject providers of research funding in the UK, distributing
approximately £80m a year. It awards funding across academic disciplines,
supporting talented individuals in the arts, humanities, sciences and
social sciences to realise their personal vision in research and
professional training.

The Visiting Professorships

are awarded to UK institutions that wish to invite an eminent researcher
from overseas to enhance the knowledge and skills of academic staff or the
student body within the host institution. The objective of the awards is to
enable distinguished academics based overseas to spend a time at a UK
university, primarily in order to enhance the skills of academic staff or
the student body within the host institution. It is recognised that
Visiting Professors may also wish to use the opportunity to further their
own academic interests.
*Data Limite*

*Elegibilidade*

Outstandingly distinguished academics based in overseas universities may be
invited to spend a time at UK higher education institutions.

Applications must be made by a member of academic staff, based in a UK
university or other higher education institution, who will be responsible
for co-ordinating the visit. The host academic’s employing institution must
also agree to administer the grant, if awarded, and to provide appropriate
facilities for the Visiting Professor.
*Benefícios*

Depending on the individual circumstances of candidates, the Trust will
award a maintenance grant up to a level commensurate with the salary of a
professor in the comparable field in the UK. However, account must be taken
of existing income from the proposed visitor’s own university, whether they
will be on paid or unpaid leave during their visit. The maintenance grant
is only payable for the period of the visit to the UK.

Travel costs to and from the UK will be met, based on the lowest reasonable
tariff for economy travel. If two or more visits are made the Trust will
pay for a maximum of two return fares for the Visiting Professor and
partner.

Requests for associated costs, if justified by the programme, will also be
considered. These may include travel within the UK (for the visitor only),
