*ANNOUNCING:  FORUMS v 1.1 (Free and Open Resources for Undergraduate Music
Studies, version 1.1)* http://libguides.brooklyn.cuny.edu/forums/ or
FORUMS.brooklyn.cuny.edu.



FORUMS is a free and open (no registration, no subscription) portal to
selected, evaluated, free and open online music resources worldwide. FORUMS
provides a space to access and to share authentic music resources for any
style, genre, culture, or world region.



*FORUMS’ purposes are: *

1.    to provide a single access point (portal) to
collected, evaluated open access music sites worldwide;

2.    to develop community among music teachers worldwide;

3.    to support music teaching and learning worldwide.



*Call for participation in the FORUMS Project *


Contributors to FORUMS currently include: music educators and performers,
musicologists, composers, museum and archive curators and educators, music
librarians and others in the U.S. *We wish to improve, diversify and
expand. We actively seek music experts worldwide to *contribute links to
authoritative and authentic resources and materials across genres and
styles.



*How you can participate in the FORUMS Project:  *


1.         Use FORUMS in your teaching and tell others about the site.
Email us your comments and suggestions.



2.         Contribute evaluated links to high quality, free and open online
music resources. Materials must be authoritative, accurate and authentic.
Open Content Licensing such as Creative Commons licensing is preferred.
Posting by the content owner (such as a website or YouTube channel created
and approved by the content owner is permitted). No copyrighted or
unauthorized reposted or commercial/self-promotional materials permitted.
Current categories include:

·      Music creation and notation; Writing about music

·      Music museums, libraries, archives, collections, scholarly resources.

·      Music instruments, performance traditions, styles, genres including:

a.     electronic, acoustic, electro-acoustic musics;

b.    vocal and instrumental musics;

c.     classical, folk, traditional, informal and popular musics of any era.
