Scholars, students, and all interested persons are invited to submit abstracts for the:
29th meeting of the Southwest/Texas Popular/American Culture Association
February 13 ~ 16, 2008
Hyatt Regency, Albuquerque, New Mexico
This year's gathering will celebrate the eleventh meeting of the Grateful Dead Caucus at the SW/TP/ACA, and will feature a host of nationally known scholars, special events, live music, and more. There will be opportunities for papers to be published in the Caucus journal, Dead Letters.
Papers on all aspects of the Grateful Dead Phenomenon are welcome, particularly:
-The Haight-Ashbury and the Birth of the Dead
-Psychedelic Poster Art and Advertising the Dead
-Performance and Ritual in the Grateful Dead Phenomenon
-Public Health, Deadheads and the Birth of Rock Med
-After the Dead: the Jamband Scene Today
Past meetings have welcomed papers from anthropology, business theory, communications theory, critical philosophy, ethnomusicology, history, literary studies, musicology, philosophy, religious studies, sociology, and more. We encourage comparative and interdisciplinary treatments as well as traditional approaches.
