Issue 1 of Jarp (the on-line Journal on the Art of Record Production) is 
now available to view at:

http://www.ArtOfRecordProduction.com

The journal includes peer reviewed academic articles, interviews with 
producers and other industry professionals, studio profiles and 
opportunities for discussion and comment for academics and industry 
professionals alike. The Journal is free but you do have to register to 
view the content. The register link is on the left side of the web page 
beneath the Login boxes.

Issue 1 has been guest edited by Professor Simon Frith of Edinburgh 
University and includes:

Academic articles by Jay Hodgson (University of Alberta), Francois Ribac 
(Universities of Metz and Stirling) and Alan Williams (University of 
Massachusets, Lowell).

An article by the composer, classical record producer and editor, 
Stephen Frost.

Simon Frith's editorial.

An interview with Joe Boyd, the producer who worked with Nick Drake, 
Pink Floyd, REM, 10,000 Maniacs, the Incredible String Band, Fairport 
convention and many others and who later started Hannibal Records.

A panel discussion organised by the Music Producers Guild on the studio 
as a space or place featuring Haydn Bendall (former senior engineer at 
Abbey Road Studios who has worked with a huge variety of artists from 
Arif Mardin, Damon Albarn, Elton John, Kate Bush, Tina Turner), Mick 
Glossop (former chief engineer at The Manor and Townhouse Studios, Mick 
has produced and engineered with Van Morrison, Frank Zappa, Public 
Image, The Ruts, The Waterboys, The Wonderstuff and Lloyd Cole), Mike 
Howlett (Martha and the Muffins, OMD, Joan Armatrading, The Alarm and 
the Gang of Four) and Tony Platt (engineer at Island Studios who has 
worked with Bob Marley, Free, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, 
The Cult and Buddy Guy)

Studio profiles on Sound Techniques and EGREM

Short pieces to stimulate discussion by Shara Rambarran (University of 
Salford) and Albin Zak (University at Albany, State University of New 
York).

And more will be added in the coming weeks.

Also - please use the numerous links to the discussion pages to create 
an archived debate on the various issues raised in the journal content.

Content, as well as the discussion pages, will be added to throughout 
the 6 month 'life' of each issue and contributions are welcome. When a 
new issue begins the old one will be archived but still available to view.

The database of researchers, topics and courses which some of you may 
have contributed to will be on line soon and further contributions will 
be welcome.
Please let me know about any errors, problems or comments to do with the 
site.
