CALL FOR PAPERS

The Tenth International Conference of the Dutch-Flemish Society for Music Theory will take place at the Maastricht Conservatory (Hogeschool Zuyd) on Friday and Saturday February 22 and 23, 2008, with a pre-conference event on Thursday evening February 21. The conference theme is MUSIC THEORY AND PERFORMANCE. All contributions relating to the relationship between music theory and performance (or performance practice) are welcome, but submissions in one of the following fields are particularly encouraged:
1. Music analysis and performance practice
2. Theory of interpretation
3. Theory of performance
4. Implementation of theory and analysis in post-secondary music education
5. Analysis of performance

Submissions for individual papers (20 minutes) are invited, as are proposals for longer presentations/demonstrations involving the participation of performing artists. Participants should take into consideration that their prepared texts are meant to be heard, not read. Reworked, written-out versions of the presentations will however be considered for publication afterwards. The conference languages are Dutch, English, and German.

Abstracts (400 words) should be sent by e-mail to both
Pieter.Berge at arts.kuleuven.be and
Steven.VandeMoortele at arts.kuleuven.be before December 8, 2007.

Please include the name of the applicant, the name of the institution, email address, postal address, and phone number. The selection committee will notify applicants by December 28, 2007.

The conference program will be announced early January 2008.
