Scholarships for International Students*

*Descrição* 	

New Zealand institutions provide the opportunity to study under 
internationally recognised academics and researchers in a wide range of 
disciplines. Qualifications attained from a New Zealand university rank 
with the best internationally.

Funded by the New Zealand Government and administered by Education New 
Zealand, the New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarships, 
NZIDRS, are a significant educational opportunity. The New Zealand 
education system provides students with the knowledge and skills to 
achieve results equal to the world's best.

*Data Limite* 	

Applications must be received by Education New Zealand no later than 15 
July each year. In years where the 15th falls upon a weekend, 
applications will be accepted until 5pm the Monday immediately following 
the 15th.

*Elegibilidade* 	

Applications will be considered from international doctoral students who 
meet the criteria listed below, including those who have already applied 
for entry to a New Zealand university. A limited number of scholarships 
are available to students already enrolled at a New Zealand university.

*Valor Financiado* 	

Entitlements under the New Zealand International Doctoral Research 
Scholarships are as follows:

   1.

      Full tuition fees for three (3) years of full-time doctoral study;

   2.

      NZ$18,000 per annum living allowance (NZ$1500 per month);

   3.

      Up to NZ$600 per annum health insurance allowance;

   4.

      NZ$2000 (across 3 year tenure) travel allowance. This is intended
      to be used for conference attendance and field research;

   5.

      NZ$800 (across 3 year tenure) book and thesis allowance;

   6.

      NZ$500 One-off establishment allowance. Only to be paid to those
      students who are travelling to NZ specifically to take up the
      NZIDRS. No student already located in NZ is eligible to receive
      this amount.

*Requisitos* 	

To be eligible for a scholarship students must:

   1.

      Be international students. Click here

      students are eligible).

   2.

      Hold an 'A' average or equivalent in their studies to date;

   3.

      Meet the requirements for entry into a research based doctoral
      degree programme at a New Zealand university. Please note, this
      will include proof of English Language proficiency;

   4.

      Provide either: An Educational Credential Evaluation (ECE)
      Certificate or a NARIC Certificate. See 'Guidelines for
      Applicants' for further information including contact details and
      exceptions;

   5.

      Provide evidence that they have contacted the relevant department
      in their chosen institution and discussed their proposed research,
      research interests and the availability of supervision;

   6.

      Hold one of the following English language test scores, achieved
      no longer than two (2) years prior to the time of application:
      a) An IELTS Academic Test with an overall score of at least 6.5
      with no band less than 6; or
      b) A TOEFL test score of at least 575, including a score of 4.5 in
      the Test of Written English; or
      c) A score of 233 in the Computer based TOEFL, including an Essay
      Writing score of 4.5; or
      d) Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) Grade B;
      Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) Grade C

Prospective candidates are advised to start corresponding with academics 
in the relevant departments of New Zealand universities regarding the 
availability of appropriate supervision well in advance of submitting 
their application papers. Evidence that supervision is available is 
required as a part of the NZIDRS application process.

*Critérios de Seleção* 	

_Selection Process_: A selection committee of senior academics, 
appointed by Education New Zealand, will consider applications. 
Applications will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

   1.

      The applicant has a record of sustained academic excellence,
      particularly in the chosen field of study, as supported by
      transcripts and letter of reference.

   2.

      The applicant has a well-defined research programme or research
      interests, and wishes to study at a New Zealand university with
      the expertise and resources to support that research.

   3.

      The applicant meets all eligibility requirements. Applicants will
      be notified in writing of the outcome of the selection process.

Additional funds are not available to support accompanying dependants.
