[ANPPOM-L] Planing e Paralelismo

Amigos,

estou traduzindo um texto em inglês (Tonal Harmony, de Kostka & Payne) 
no qual encontrei a seguinte frase:

"The term planing, essentially synonymous with parallelism, is 
frequently used to describe this device wehn it occours in 
twentieth-century music -- perhaps to avoid the pejorative connotations 
of the formerly used term". (Kostka and Payne, 2000, p. 511)


Algum de vocês saberia qual a melhor tradução para planing? Não me 
lembro de nenhuma outra palavra em português como sinonimo de 
paralelismo em música.
