*Descrição*

The *Ecole Normale Supérieure* (ENS) is one of the oldest schools of higher
education in France (1794). ENS offers unique interdisciplinary courses such
as History and Philosophy of Science, Mathematics and Economics, Sociology
and Anthropology, Literature and Civilizations of Antiquity, Aesthetics and
Art History, Musicology and Literature, Medicine and Biology, Economics and
Law, Geography and Geo - strategy, Biology and Chemistry or Mathematics.

The Blaise Pascal Research Chairs were established in 1996 by the State and
the Ile-de-France region. Each chair allows highly qualified,
internationally acclaimed, foreign research scientists in all disciplines,
accompanied if they wish by other research workers, to continue their work
on a scientific project for a 12 months period that could be spread over two
years in a higher learning institution or research institution in
Paris/Ile-de-France.

Each Chair allows the foreign scientist to be hosted for 12 full months,
possibly spread over two years, in one or more well-known Higher Learning or
Research Institutions in Paris/Ile-de-France that are focused on a
particular scientific project and are able to provide the suitable
environment, equipment and means required. The foreign candidate may be
hosted in Ile-de-France as early as September 2011.

*Data Limite*

The applications must be received before 10 January 2011.

*Elegibilidade*

Highly qualified, internationally acclaimed, foreign research scientists in
all scientific fields: exact sciences, life sciences, humanities and social
sciences, applied sciences and new technologies. It is recalled the
applications by female candidates are highly encouraged.

*Valor Financiado*

The global financial amount attributed to each project can go up to €200.000
which includes among other things, salaries, social charges, taxes,
accompanying expenses.

*Requisitos*

The candidates are required to give about ten lectures (pedagogical program
to be joined), will have to deliver an activity report and to organise a
public seminar at the end of the period.

*Critérios de Seleção*

A multi-disciplinary jury, in association with the French Institute, will
select four applicants for 2011 based on the scientific interest of the
project for Ile-de-France Region, on its interdisciplinary characteristic
and the quality of the application.

*Forma de Solicitação*

The applications must be filled jointly and presented by a person in charge
of the laboratory receiving the candidate. The following documents are
compulsory and must be sent in triplicate for the address below:
