Dear musictherapists,

Music therapy is gaining more and more importance around the world.
Therefore, its history and practices are manifold and culturally diverse.
The 14th WFMT World Congress of Music Therapy, hold on July 7-12 2014, is
dedicated to the topic of “Cultural Diversity.” Practice, research and
education in music therapy will be discussed in depth during spotlight
sessions, workshops, and poster presentations. The congress locations are
Vienna (July 7, pre-congress seminars) and Krems/Wachau (July 8-12,
opening, spotlight, concurrent and closing sessions). Both cities are
listed as UNESCO world heritage sites.

Situated in the heart of Europe, Austria looks back on a musical tradition
of many centuries. Music therapy plays a significant role, being officially
recognized as a health profession by the Austrian government since 2008.
The world congress is supported by the Lower Austrian Government and all
Austrian universities offering music therapy training programs.

We are pleased to invite you personally to this culturally and socially
rich as well as scientifically exciting international congress! In the
following months our newsletters will provide you with more information on
the congress.
