Since 1999, the National Research Fund (FNR) has developed various thematic
and structural funding instruments that helped to construct Luxembourg’s
reputation as a research site. The FNR serves all branches of science and
the humanities with an emphasis on strategically aligned research domains.

The main objective of the
scheme<http://www.fnr.lu/fr/Actualit%C3%A9s/Actualit%C3%A9s/AFR-launch-of-Calls-2014-1-for-PhD-and-Postdoc-Grants>is
to improve the general working conditions and career perspectives of
researchers, by giving early stage researchers access to work contracts and
supplementary training opportunities.

11th March 2014 (14:00 CET).
  *Elegibilidade*

The AFR programme has no thematic limitations and is open to all
researchers, regardless of their nationality, desirous to engage into
research training in Luxembourg or abroad. Is open to applicants in
possession of a doctoral degree of a recognised higher education
institution.

  *Duração da Bolsa*

The AFR funds Postdoctoral research studies for up to two years. The
minimum AFR PDR grant duration is twelve months.
  *Critérios de Seleção*

The submitted research proposals will be selected on the basis of the
following criteria:

   1. Scientific quality of the research project;
   2. Profile of the applicant;
   3. Quality of the host institution;
   4. Interest of the research project in the Luxembourg R&D setting;
   5. Potential of the research project for career development.

 *Restrições*

Researchers must not have obtained their PhD since more than eight years
(according to the date of the PhD certificate)
  *Forma de solicitação*

Applicants must submit their application in electronic format to the online
submission system <https://grants.fnr.lu/register/?return_url=%2f> (FNR
Grant Management System) no later than 14:00 (CET) on the call deadline.
Applicants have to use the templates valid for the relevant call.

The joint declaration has to be signed by the Host Institution and
officially stamped. The signed joint declaration has to be scanned and
uploaded before the call deadline using the online submission system (FNR
Grant Management System). No signed paper version has to be submitted to
the FNR.
