Education New Zealand (ENZ) is a crown entity and is the lead organisation
marketing New Zealand’s education industry overseas. Its purpose is to take
New Zealand education experiences to the world for enduring economic,
social and cultural benefits.

The New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarship (NZIDRS)
<http://enz.govt.nz/our-services/scholarships/nzidrs> is a Government
funded scholarship, administered by ENZ. The scholarship aims to attract
and retain the best international researchers to New Zealand.

Recipients can undertake PhD study at any of New Zealand’s eight
Universities, all of which rank within the world’s top 500:

   1. AUT University <http://www.aut.ac.nz/>;
   2. Lincoln University <http://www.lincoln.ac.nz/>;
   3. Massey University <http://www.massey.ac.nz/massey/home.cfm>;
   4. University of Auckland <https://www.auckland.ac.nz/en.html>;
   5. University of Canterbury <http://www.canterbury.ac.nz/>;
   6. University of Otago <http://www.otago.ac.nz/>;
   7. University of Waikato <http://www.waikato.ac.nz/>;
   8. Victoria University of Wellington <http://www.victoria.ac.nz/>.

*Elegibilidade*

Candidates of the highest academic merit conducting research of clear and
direct benefit to New Zealand.

*Note: *Applications are welcomed from eligible candidates undertaking
relevant research in any discipline.

*Valor Financiado*

The NZIDRS covers the following:

   1. New Zealand University annual tuition fees and associated student
   levies;
   2. An annual living stipend of NZ$25,000.00 per year (tax free);
   3. Medical insurance coverage up to NZ$600.00 annually.

*Duração da Bolsa*

Up to three years.
*Requisitos*

To be eligible for a scholarship students must:

   1. Hold a minimum grade equivalent to a GPA of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale or an
   A to A+ average in your most recent or highest post graduate tertiary
   qualification;
   2. Have a confirmed, non-conditional offer of place for a (direct-start)
   PhD programme at a New Zealand university;
   3. Conduct the PhD study in New Zealand (not from a distance);
   4. Not hold citizenship or PR status in New Zealand or Australia.

*Critérios de Seleção*

The NZIDRS are awarded based on academic excellence and the impact of the
PhD research for New Zealand. Applications must propose research that has a
clear, direct and tangible positive effect on:

   1. New Zealand’s economy, in terms of international trade and business
   development in key sectors;
   2. New Zealand’s population in terms of health and safety;
   3. Research and scholarship in either of the two areas.
