*Descrição*

Founded in 1985 and formally constituted by Charter in 1987, the Coimbra
Group, association of 39 European universities, is an association of
long-established European multidisciplinary universities of high
international standard committed to creating special academic and cultural
ties in order to promote, for the benefit of its members,
internationalisation, academic collaboration, excellence in learning and
research, and service to society.

The Coimbra Group Scholarship Programme for Young Professors and
Researchers from Latin American Universities

was launched for the first time on January 2004. The initiative, which
offers grants to finance short-term research visits, aims at favouring
mobility and academic exchange between both regions.

The following Coimbra Group universities are participating in the 2016/2017
edition of the scholarship programme:

   1. Aarhus University (Denmark);
   2. University of Coimbra (Portugal);
   3. University of Göttingen (Germany);
   4. University of Granada (Spain);
   5. Karl-Franzens University Graz (Austria);
   6. Friedrich Schiller University Jena (Germany);
   7. Jagiellonian University Krakow (Poland);
   8. University of Leiden (The Netherlands);
   9. KU Leuven (Belgium);
   10. University of Padova (Italy);
   11. University of Poitiers (France);
   12. University of Salamanca (Spain);
   13. University of Siena (Italy);
   14. University of Tartu (Estonia).

*Elegibilidade*

Requirements for the applicants:

   1. To be a national of and currently resident in a Latin American
   country. Candidates already living and/or studying in Europe will not be
   considered;
   2. To hold a university degree or equivalent;
   3. To be linked as a professor or researcher to a Latin American
   University recognised as such by the authorities of the country;
   4. Candidates should be under 40 years of age when submitting the
   application.

The value and the duration of the scholarships can vary depends on the
university in which the applicant was accepted. The benefits are stated in

*Requisitos*

Only one application per candidate will be accepted

Candidates should submit online an Acceptance Letter/email from the
tutor/partner with whom the work programme will be undertaken in the host
institution. This document is mandatory.

*Critérios de Seleção*

The final selection will be made in accordance with the following criteria:

   1. Academic skills of the applicant;
   2. Experience as a professor or/and researcher;
   3. Curriculum Vitae assessment;
   4. Coherence between the programme proposed by the applicant and his/her
   academic background and experience;
   5. Immediate benefits of the research visit for the academic and
   scientific future of the candidate and of the participating institutions.

The applicant must complete the Online Application

submitted in English.
*Observações*

   1. ​Previously selected candidates can apply for a second grant but they
   will not be prioritised;
   2. Successful candidates currently employed by a University are
   responsible for ensuring that their home institution will grant them leave
   of absence to undertake the proposed visit;
   3. Dates and structure of the visit, which will be carried out in the
   academic year 2016-2017 at the host university, will be agreed upon with
   the host tutor / partner university. All practical details concerning the
   mobility period, scholarship payment, certificates and visa procedures
   should be discussed with the host university and not with the Coimbra Group
   Office.
