RESULTADOS DEL XVII PREMIO JOVENES COMPOSITORES FUNDACION AUTOR-CDMC 2006
La 17a. edicion del Premio Jovenes Compositores Fundacion Autor-CDMC 2006 -
antiguo Premio SGAE de Jovenes Compositores- llego a su fin el lunes 11 de
diciembre con el concierto de las cuatro obras finalistas y la entrega de
premios en el Auditorio 400 del Centro Nacional Museo de Arte Reina Sofia,
de Madrid.
Las obras fueron interpretadas por el grupo SONOR ENSEMBLE, que conto con la
flautista Susana Recio y el saxofonista Andres Gomis, como solistas, todos
bajo la direccion del maestro Luis Aguirre
Las obras premiadas fueron:
PRIMER PREMIO "Xavier Montsalvatge" a: La degradacion de los rasgos para
ensemble de Oliver Rappoport (Espana)
SEGUNDO PREMIO"Carmelo Alonso Bernaola" a: Samadhi para saxofon y conjunto
instrumental de Juan Cruz Guevara (Espana)
TERCER PREMIO "Francisco Guerrero Martin" a: Matizes para flauta y conjunto
instrumental de Rodrigo Lima (Brasil)
MENCION DE HONOR "Juan Crisostomo Arriaga" a: El silencio de la noche para
conjunto instrumental de Pedro Larrosa Guillen (Espana).
El Jurado de esta edicion final estuvo integrado por los compositores
espanoles Luis de Pablo (presidente del Jurado), Jose Luis Turina, Jose
Maria Sanchez Verdu y Jesus Torres y por el compositor mexicano Mario
Lavista.

The Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas announces its first Young
Composers Competition 2007
The Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (POA), under the direction its
Artistic Director and Founder Alondra de la Parra, announces it first Young
Composers Competition that invites composers aged thirty-five and younger
from the American continent (North America, Central America, South America
and the Caribbean) to submit an 8-12 minute work for orchestra.
The winning composition will be premiered by POA on June 12th, 2007 at Jazz
at Lincoln Center's Rose Hall in New York City. The winner will also be
provided with an all-expenses-paid trip to New York to witness the premier
of his/her work in addition to a $2,000 USD prize.
This unique competition stands as a true testament to POA's mission to
promote the works of composer and performers from the American continent and
to develop young musical leaders with a cross-cultural vision through the
most universal of languages: music.
"I am very optimistic about the artistic quality of the submissions and look
forward to introducing a new talent from the Americas to the classical
stage" - says POA's Founder and Artistic Director, Alondra de la Parra, who
founded the orchestra in 2004 as a twenty-three year-old piano student in
New York in a response to a lack of presence of Latin-American symphonic
repertoire in the US, and the disconnection between the US audiences and
young Latin American artists.
The submitted works will be reviewed by an international panel of judges
that includes conductor, composers, orchestra principal and educators of
orchestras around the world. The winner will be announced by mid-April. All
applications will be anonymous to the panel of judges. Submission deadline
is February 28th.

PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA OF THE AMERICAS YOUNG COMPOSERS COMPETITION 2007
The Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (POA) is proud to announce its
First Young Composers Competition 2007. The purpose of POA's Young
Composers Competition is to encourage the creation and performance of new
works by composers from the American continent.
ELIGIBILITY
POA's Young Composers Competition is open to composers from South America,
Central America, North America and the Caribbean, under 35 years of age by
the time the application is submitted.
CRITERIA
The composition should be an original composition never before performed.
See "Guidelines" below for more on style and instrumentation.
PRIZES
First Prize Winner will receive:
- The opportunity to have his/her piece performed in New York City at POA's
"Jazz at Lincoln Center" concert on June 12th 2007
- 2,000 USD Cash Prize
- A round trip ticket to New York City to attend the premiere of the
composition
- Three night stay at a NYC hotel
- A non-commercial recording of his/her piece
JUDGES
Submitted scores will be reviewed by an international panel that includes
conductors, composers, orchestral principals and educators of orchestras
around the world. ALL APPLICATIONS WILL BE ANONYMOUS TO THE PANEL OF JUDGES.
The judgment of the panel is final.
GUIDELINES
Style, Instrumentation& Presentation
Limit: 2/2/2/2 - 4/3/3/1 - hp., timp., 2 perc./pno., strings.
No choral selections, please.
Duration
Work must be between five (8) and ten (12) minutes in duration.
Limits
A composer may only submit one work. The composition must not have been
performed publicly, published, or awarded a prize in a previous competition.
Application Fee
The application fee is 75 USD (non-refundable)

Applicants should submit:
- An application Form - (not given to the panel of judges)
- A clean, easy-to-read copy of the full score (transposed or ink)
- A demo recording (if available)
- A biography (not given to the panel of judges)
- 2 photocopies of your passport to prove nationality (not given to the
panel of judges)
- 75 USD application fee in the form of a check or a money order made out
to: Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas

Notification of Winning Composition(s)
A decision will be released by mid-April. The performance will take place
at Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Center on June 12, 2007. Payment of awards
will be made by POA at the concert, contingent upon the submission of
required presentation and performance materials.
Presentation Score
The winning composer(s) will assume full responsibility for providing
adequate performance materials. The winning composer(s) should provide to
POA, a presentation score and a set of performance parts of the winning
composition. All submitted performance materials must be fully legible, and
playable from the submitted parts.
COPYRIGHT AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
The winning composer(s) retain full rights to his or her work with the
understanding that he or she will grant to POA a non-exclusive right to
perform and record the composition solely for non-commercial, POA-related
activities. A copy of all submitted scores, will remain with POA. Submitted
scores will not be returned to applicants.
The winning composer(s) will warrant to POA that the composition does not
violate any existing copyright in whole or in part, and that he/she has
lawful right to the composition. If the composer has any arrangement with
any performing rights organizations, such as ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, SOCAN, and
the like, the composer is required to instruct the affiliated organization
not to collect performance fees or royalties solely where POA is involved.
Compositions that do not win a prize will remain the sole property of the
composer. However, POA will retain submitted. Composers of non-winning works
will be contacted for permission prior to any performance or recording by
POA. In the event of future publication of winning compositions, POA would
require printed acknowledgment of the award on the music. This
acknowledgment should be in the following form:

Direito pela Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora. Sua atuaçao cultural e
intensa como regente e promotor cultural, destacando -se em 1995 a 1988 foi
regente do coral Pro - Musica , professor de violino e viola, e violinista
no Quarteto de cordas e Orquestra de Camara Pro - Musica de Juiz de Fora. No
mesmo periodo atuou, no Rio de Janeiro como violinista da Orquestra
Sinfonica Nacional. De 1988 a 1995 foi fundador e regente do coral do SESI,
que sob a sua direçao realizou 250 apresentaçoes e participou de importantes
eventos nacionais e internacionais, como o 5o. Festival Internazionale Dei
Cori , na Italia, em 1992, o 5o. Cork International Choral Festival e 40th
International Trophy Competition, na Irlanda, em 1993 e o Brasil Cantat, em
Criciuma, Santa Catarina, em 1994.
A partir de 1995 assume a Regencia do CORO MUNICIPAL JUIZ DE FORA, que ja
conta em seu historico a realizaçao de mais de trezentas apresentaçoes,
incluindo a participaçao no exterior, no Festival Internazionale dei Cori,
na Italia, em 2000 e em importantes eventos nacionais da musica coral, como
o Encontro UNICANTO de Corais, em Londrina, no Parana, o Festival
Internacional de Corais de Riversul e Itarare, em Sao Paulo, o FEMUSICA -
Festival de musica em Campos, no Rio de Janeiro, o Canta Brasil, em Sao
Lourenço, Minas Gerais, dentro outros.
De 1999 a 2005 foi fundador e regente do Coral Brasil Center de juiz de Fora
e a partir de 2005 do CORAL OAB de Juiz de Fora, da 4a. Subseçao da Ordem
dos Advogados do Brasil.
Como promotor cultural foi criador e organizador dos Encontros Sesiminas de
Corais, realizando seis ediçoes do evento no periodo de 1989 a 1994 e do
FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CORAIS de Juiz de Fora- FESTCOROS, realizado
desde 1994. E diretor, ainda, dos Encontros de Corais de Juiz de Fora, a
partir de 1996 e dos Encontros Natalinos de Corais, realizado desde 1997.
Foi, por duas gestoes, membro do Conselho Curador da FUNALFA, fundaçao
publica responsavel pela cultura no municipio de Juiz de Fora. Foi membro
eleito pela comunidade cultural da cidade no conselho do Programa Cultural
Murilo Mendes, em sua primeira ediçao.
Em reconhecimento ao seu trabalho cultural, recebeu, em Junho de 1995, na
Assembleia Legislativa do EstAdo de Minas Gerais, o diploma "Amigo do Cato
Coral", concedido pela Federaçao Mineira de Corais - FEMICOR , pelo
incentivo e apoio oferecido ao movimento coral mineiro.
Ao lado de sua atuaçao cultural, Domicio Procopio e advogado militante nas
areas trabalhista e civel, com intensa atividade na comarca.

emergeants, l'Ensemble de musique contemporaine de Strasbourg Linea
accueillera en residence, grace au soutien du CRES - Fonds Social Europeen,
huit d'entre eux pour une duree d'un an. Cette residence consiste en une
commande a chaque compositeur, des sessions de travail avec l'ensemble Linea
et la mise en relation avec les reseaux professionnels specialises. Un
concert des residents est prevu en janvier 2008.

In purpose to support young creation and new talent in new music, the
Strasbourg Linea Ensemble will organise in 2007 one Residence for 8
composers, who are not integrated yet in a professionnal network, and need
to complete their practice and experience. After selection, Linea will
commission on e new work from each composer. This residence will include
rehearsal with musicians and networking with musical and professionnal
environment A concert with each resident work will follow in 2008.

La Residence en trois etapes
1) Commande d'une oeuvre
Apres selection des huit compositeurs, Linea commandera a chacun d'entre eux
une oeuvre inedite qu'ils ecriront dans le cadre de leur residence
2) Formation a la professionnalisation
Chaque compositeur integrera des seances de travail avec l'ensemble Linea,
qui le placeront dans les conditions reelles du processus de creation et
d'interpretation de son oeuvre : repetitions, relations avec les musiciens…
Il sera conseille et guide pour maitriser les differentes etapes et
contraintes de ce processus.
3) Mise en relation avec l'environnement professionnel
Linea mettra en place des rencontres et des tables rondes avec differents
interlocuteurs potentiels du compositeur qui peuvent l'aider dans sa
demarche et sont a l'ecoute de la jeune creation : directeurs de festival,
diffuseurs, journalistes, radios, societes civiles (SACEM, SPEDIDAM…), etc.
Conditions d'acces
Les candidatures sont ouvertes a tout compositeur ayant completement termine
ses etudes et n'ayant pas encore integre un circuit professionnel (diffusion
en festival, disque…).
Le candidat enverra un dossier de candidature avant le 15 janvier 2007,
comprenant :

In purpose to support young creation and new talent in new music, the Linea
Ensemble will organise in 2007 one Residence for 8 composers, who are not
integrated yet in a professionnal network, and need to complete their
practice and experience.
This project is supported by CRES - European Social Fund
The residence in three steps
1) After selection, Linea will commission each composer to write one new
music work
2) Each composer will integrate workshop sessions with Linea's musicians,
including rehearsal of his work. At the end of those workshops, he will be
able to manage the whole process of creation of his work : rehearsals,
relationships with musicians... He will get advises and help to develope
this ability.
3) The composers will be put in contact with the whole professionnal
environment : conductors, festival directors, concert producers, label
editors, etc...
Access conditions
The candidates must have completely achieved his studies, without having yet
integrated a professionnal network.
